Brendon McCullum has outlined his ambition for England’s white-ball cricket programme
McCullum said that at first, he was at ease managing both white-ball and Test coaching duties. He is currently only focused on the white-ball side due to changes in the England system. I felt really at ease performing everything [test and white-ball coach] at the moment. According to McCullum, “I’m focused on how to make this side the best white-ball team in the world because change happens,”.
The coach’s main goal is to assemble a team that can compete at the top level in all white-ball formats. McCullum outlined his goals for the team’s identity and style of play, stressing the importance of consistent development and a vibrant competitive identity. We have yet to arrive. We have a lot of room to develop and a lot of work ahead of us. However, I want us to become the world’s strongest, fastest, and most resilient cricket teamsone that can play at a high-octane pace,” he continued.
For England’s white-ball cricket, McCullum’s preferred playing philosophy is shown in his emphasis on speed and energy. In all ODI and T20I forms, the coach wants his team to take an assertive and dynamic stance that establishes their competitive character.
