Veteran Indian batsman Rohit Sharma has reached the milestone of 12,000 runs in ODI cricket. ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma achieved this feat during the second match of the ODI series between India and West Indies, currently being played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Heading into this match, the Indian captain needed just 53 runs to reach the 12,000-run mark in ODIs. He achieved this milestone by taking a single off the fifth ball of the 16th over, bowled by Roston Chase. Notably, Rohit is only the third Indian player to score 12,000 runs in ODIs.
Before Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar (18,426) and Virat Kohli (12,010) had achieved this feat for India. Rohit reached this tally in just 282 innings, the second-fastest in the history of ODI cricket; ‘Chase Master’ Kohli had completed 12,000 runs in just 242 innings.

Meanwhile, India needs 406 runs in 50 overs to win the Guwahati ODI. Earlier, after losing the toss, West Indies posted a total of 405 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Openers John Campbell (101) and Shai Hope (104), along with Amir Jangoo (114), played magnificent centuries to help the team reach a record total.

At the time of writing, India has scored 206 runs without losing a wicket after 22 overs. Captain Shubman Gill (112*) and Rohit Sharma (85*) are currently at the crease.
