The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Pakistan, which will also feature the host nation and Sri Lanka. Amidst preparations for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, this tour presents a crucial opportunity to test the team’s composition in the challenging conditions of the subcontinent.
A notable inclusion in the squad is leg-spinner Mason Crane, who is making a strong comeback to England’s white-ball team after an eight-year hiatus. Crane will join forces with experienced spinner Adil Rashid to form a potent spin attack; Rashid has recovered after being sidelined by injury during the recent series against Sri Lanka.
All-rounder Sam Curran has also returned to the squad after recovering from a groin injury. However, premier fast bowler Jofra Archer has been rested for workload management following a busy summer of international cricket. Harry Brook will continue to lead the team as white-ball captain, supported by the experienced Joe Root. The squad strikes a balance between experience and emerging talent, featuring young players such as James Coles, Sonny Baker, and Henry Crocombe.
