The Sri Lanka Cricket selection committee has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming ODI tri-nation series in Pakistan. Kusal Mendis has been named captain of the team, which was announced on October 4. Apart from hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England will also participate in this tournament.
Opening batsman Pathum Nissanka has been included in the squad, but his participation depends on medical clearance. SriLanka Cricket has clarified that Nissanka will travel to Pakistan only if the medical team declares him fully fit to play. No details regarding the nature of his issue have been shared so far.
Nissanka is a key top-order batsman for Sri Lanka’s ODI team. Consequently, if he does not regain fitness in time, the team might have to alter its opening lineup. However, the selectors have not yet named a replacement for him.

The Sri Lankan squad features a balanced mix of youth and experience. Former captain Dasun Shanaka has been included in the team. Additionally, experienced players such as fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera and spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka are part of the squad.
This series presents a great opportunity for Sri Lanka to strengthen its preparations for 50-over cricket. Playing five consecutive ODI matches will help the team fine-tune its playing XI and improve coordination among the players.
