For the five-match series in India, the West Indies have added wicketkeeper-batter Amir Jangoo to their T20I squad as an injury cover. Jewel Andrew, 19, will undergo a fitness evaluation following a finger injury sustained during the third ODI on Saturday, October 3. According to a CWI statement released on Monday morning, October 5, Andrew “is still being monitored and assessed by the medical team” and has not been declared out of the series.

During the third ODI, Jewel Andrew sustained the injury when making a catch at cover inside the ring to get rid of Naman Dhir. Shortly after leaving the pitch, he was rushed to the hospital for scans, and the results were somewhat reassuring: no fracture was found. Even though the scan result was good, Andrew did not participate in the game going forward and did not bat as the West Indies successfully completed a chase. The outcome of his finger’s ongoing medical evaluation in the next few hours will determine whether or not he can participate in the T20I leg.
The 19-year-old batted poorly during the ODI series. In the first game, he was expelled for a duck off the first ball he encountered; in the second, he was left out of the starting lineup; and in the third, he was called up, but the injury kept him out of action. The West Indies’ wicketkeeping plans for the shortest format are now undetermined due to his absence.
Although Amir Jangoo, 29, is usually thought of as a red-ball specialist, he has played for the West Indies in seven Twenty20 Internationals since making his debut in December 2024, scoring 163 runs at a strike rate of 120.74. His total strike rate over 34 T20 matches at all levels is 104.25.

He scored 213 runs at a strike rate of 107.57 during the competition, helping the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons win the CPL 2026 title in September. His campaign’s pivotal moment came in the final, where he helped the Falcons defeat the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets while remaining undefeated on 57 off 34 deliveries, hitting three sixes and four fours.
With scores of 58 not out, 114, and 67 in the three games, Amir Jangoo continued that momentum into the ODI series against India. He finished third among all batters in the series with an aggregate of 239 runs, behind only Shai Hope (278) and Shubman Gill (334), who topped the statistics. Beginning on October 6 in Lucknow, the five-match Twenty20 International series will take place in Ranchi on October 9, Indore on October 11, Hyderabad on October 14, and Bengaluru on October 17.
