On Sunday, October 11, 2026, Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by a commanding 82 runs in the second game at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to win the three-match Twenty20 International series. With one game left, the victory made the series 2-0 and gave captain Sahibzada Farhan his first series triumph. On Friday, October 9, Pakistan won the first Twenty20 International by four wickets, giving them a 1-0 lead.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bowl first, which did not work out well. Razaullah was replaced by Salman Mirza in Pakistan’s starting lineup for the match. The Pakistan top order batted with confidence for the entirety of their 20 overs, and Kusal Mendis and his team were unable to contain them. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 133/7 in their chase, falling 82 runs short of the target after Pakistan finished with 215/3.

With 96 off 51 balls, Maaz Sadaqat was a key player in Pakistan’s batting effort. Throughout his innings, he hit six fours and seven sixes, creating one of the series’ most devastating hits and keeping the scoreboard moving quickly. Even though Sadaqat was only four runs away from becoming his first T20I century, his contribution was crucial in establishing a formidable goal.
Farhan made 73 off 44 deliveries while starting alongside Sadaqat. During his innings, he hit five sixes and four boundaries, making him the perfect counterbalance to Sadaqat’s aggressiveness at the top of the order. The two hitters worked together to create a partnership that put constant pressure on the Sri Lankan attack and laid the groundwork for Pakistan’s formidable 215/3. Both openers’ unrelenting strokeplay was too much for the Sri Lankan bowlers to handle, and it was impossible to undo the damage done in the powerplay and middle overs.

The bowling effort was led by Mohammad Imran, who had a spell that was hard to score against. He finished with an economy rate of 2.75, the most frugal return of any Pakistani bowler that day, taking three wickets while giving up just 11 runs in his four overs. A disciplined team bowling performance was established by his control with the new ball and throughout the middle overs.
Mirza, who replaced Razaullah in the starting lineup, also made a significant contribution with the ball. He demonstrated Pakistan’s bowling unit’s discipline throughout the innings by taking two wickets for 28 runs in just three overs. In the face of Pakistan’s varied attack, Sri Lanka’s top and middle order were unable to form any significant alliances.
In the final moments, Sri Lanka’s lower order put up some resistance. Maheesh Theekshana finished the innings undefeated with 32 off 26 deliveries, while Chamindu Wickramasinghe scored 29 off 24 balls. Despite their efforts, no Sri Lankan batsman was able to form a meaningful partnership earlier in the innings, and the team was ultimately dismissed for 133/7, giving Pakistan a decisive series win at Rawalpindi.
