After the BCCI decided not to extend Ajit Agarkar’s contract, Wasim Jaffer, a former opener for India, applied for the position of senior national selector in men’s cricket. Jaffer said, “Yes, I have applied for the job,”.
Wasim Jaffer applied for the position of senior national selector in men’s cricket
Wasim Jaffer, 48, scored five hundreds in 31 Test matches, including double-tons against Pakistan and the West Indies. He scored 1944 runs and averaged 34.10 during his Test career from 2000 to 2008. In 2006, Jaffer played in just two ODI matches.
Jaffer, however, has a strong foundation in domestic cricket. He is the greatest run scorer in Ranji Trophy history and has hit the most hundreds in the history of the sport. In 260 first-class cricket matches, he has amassed 19410 runs and hit 57 hundreds at an average of over 50. His senior cricket career started with Mumbai in the 1996–97 season. Later, while playing for Vidarbha, he gave up all cricket.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), consisting of Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape, would elect Wasim Jaffer as chairman. Jaffer has more Test appearances than any competitor, which explains this.
Jaffer has seven more Test caps than Pragyan Ojha, who has twenty-four. In addition to Ojha, other selectors at the moment include RP Singh, Ajay Ratra, and Shiv Sunder Das.
