For the fourth Twenty20 International against New Zealand on Friday, October 30, at Eden Park in Auckland, India significantly altered their bowling strategy. The playing XI did not include Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had participated in the first three games of the five-match series.
With figures of 0/49, 1/50, and 0/40, which left him with just one wicket and 139 runs conceded over 12 T20Is in the series, the pacer’s performance in those three matches had been challenging. He was replaced by Mayank Yadav, who had not played since the series opener.
Ambati Rayudu provided insight into Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s circumstances
Speaking after the ruling, Ambati Rayudu provided insight into Bhuvneshwar’s circumstances. The seasoned batsman admitted that early difficulties were typical given the pacer’s recent return to international cricket following a long absence. Rayudu said he was sure Bhuvneshwar had the character and background to overcome this obstacle and find his form again.
He won’t do anything differently, in my opinion. He will maintain his composure because he doesn’t go too high after a successful [performance] or too low after failures. He knows how to perform and how to return. After a while, it can occur when playing international cricket. Rayudu was quoted by Sportskeeda as saying, “Things might not go as planned.”
Earlier in the month, Bhuvneshwar made his comeback to international cricket in the fifth Twenty20 International against the West Indies in Bengaluru. However, the match was canceled due to rain, so he did not bowl a single over. His first time being left out of the starting lineup since that return was at Eden Park. As he strived to regain match fitness at the highest level, his three appearances in the New Zealand series put his rhythm and consistency to the test.

In the fourth T20I, Mayank Yadav’s inclusion proved crucial. While bowling four overs and giving up 48 runs, the pacer claimed three wickets. With one game remaining, the series is now 3-1 in favor of the visitors after New Zealand won the game by 87 runs.
