On X, Ravindra Jadeja isn’t very active. Nevertheless, the Indian all-rounder made a rare appearance on the platform on Wednesday following the BCCI’s invitation to apply for the position of chairman of selectors.
Following the conclusion of Ajit Agarkar’s term as chairman of the men’s selection committee, the BCCI launched the application process. “What the procedure?” wasRavindra Jadeja’s only response to the board’s post.
Shortly after Agarkar’s departure was confirmed by the BCCI, Ravindra Jadeja gave a succinct response. The all-rounder’s response stands out because he hardly ever interacts on X. On February 19, he responded to a post about Nepal cricket made by former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. This was his first interaction on the platform.
Ravindra Jadeja’s brief response came shortly after the BCCI confirmed Ajit Agarkar’s departure
Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha is currently acting as the interim chairman of the men’s selection committee after Agarkar’s term officially ended on October 4. The other panellists are Ajay Ratra, RP Singh, and Shiv Sundar Das.
Ravindra Jadeja’s response coincided with Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of India, honouring Agarkar after he left the selection committee. Gambhir praised Agarkar for his contribution to India’s recent success and emphasised his conviction that the team should come first.
It is a true honour to work with you, dear Ajit Bhai. Your belief in “Team first & Team ahead, always” is demonstrated by those three ICC trophies. History will treat you more kindly, I must say. I am grateful for everything. My best wishes for all of your future pursuits! Gambhir penned on X.

Indian cricket was experiencing great success during Agarkar’s tenure as chairman. During his time, India won the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Ravindra Jadeja is not qualified for the selector position at this time, despite his sly remark. According to BCCI regulations, candidates must have retired from cricket at least five years ago. Jadeja is no longer eligible for the position because he retired from T20I cricket in 2024 but is still playing in the Indian Premier League and Test and ODI cricket.
