At the SA20 2027 auction, Kieron Pollard, a West Indian all-rounder, was acquired by the Johannesburg Super Kings for his base price of R1.5 million. There was no competition for the deal, and no competing franchise entered the bidding.

Kieron Pollard will don the Super Kings team’s yellow jersey for the forthcoming season, according to the SA20 League, which confirmed the signing. Prior to the 2027 auction, Kieron Pollard, who had previously played for MI Cape Town in the SA20, was let go by that team.
The SA20 2027 auction was held on October 7, 2026, starting at 8:30 p.m. IST. On that day, four franchises were actively bidding. Prior to the auction, the Paarl Royals and Durban’s Super Giants had finished assembling their teams and were not looking to add players.
With six spots up for grabs and R20.6 million left over, JSK entered the auction. Rilee Rossouw, James Vince, Akeal Hosein, Leus du Plooy, Duan Jansen, and pre-signed Jason Holder were among the 12 players the team had kept on before the tournament. The tournament’s fifth edition is being coached by Albie Morkel.
On that day, JSK added more players than just Kieron Pollard. Blessing Muzarabani, a fast bowler from Zimbabwe, was the team’s first nominee and signed without any competition. Jason Rowles was also purchased by JSK; at that point in the proceedings, the Australian’s bid of R2.9 million was reportedly the highest of the day.
Rassie van der Dussen’s failure to sell was one of the auction’s other noteworthy developments. MI Cape Town had only R3.6 million remaining when they entered the auction, despite having six slots available. Will Jacks, Kagiso Rabada, Nicholas Pooran, and Rashid Khan were among the players they kept on the team. Andre Russell was one of the players the Pretoria Capitals kept, and they had five spots and R1.475 million left. Among the active bidders, Sunrisers Eastern Cape had the greatest flexibility because they had two spots to fill with R9.35 million remaining.

Prior to the auction, Durban’s Super Giants had already assembled their 19-man roster, with Heinrich Klaasen occupying the Wildcard position and Aiden Markram serving as captain. Jos Buttler, Kane Williamson, Liam Livingstone, and Sunil Narine were also on their roster.
A total of R42 million was allotted to each franchise at the SA20 2027 auction for squad recruitment. With one Wildcard spot and two required Under-23 players on each side, squads can have up to 19 players. JSK is now one step closer to finalising their team for the upcoming season as the fifth edition of the SA20 is set to start on January 17.
