The five-match T20 series between India and the West Indies is set to kick off on October 6 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Ahead of the series, Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel has hailed Kuldeep Yadav as a major match-winner for the team. Notably, Kuldeep is on the verge of completing 100 wickets in T20 International cricket during this series.
Morne Morkel Has Full Confidence in Kuldeep Yadav
Speaking ahead of the first T20 match at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Morne Morkel noted that Kuldeep Yadav is bowling well and is high on confidence. According to the coach, Kuldeep’s form is a positive sign for India, and he possesses the ability to take wickets for the team during crucial moments.
Kuldeep Yadav has claimed 95 wickets in T20 International cricket so far; he needs just five more to reach the 100-wicket milestone. Achieving this feat during the series against the West Indies would mark a special personal record for him.
Kuldeep Yadav played his last T20 International match against Pakistan on February 15, 2026. He is now making his comeback to the T20 squad for the series against the West Indies.

Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, the T20 squad features bowling options such as Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Mayank Yadav. This gives the Indian team a wide range of choices in both pace and spin departments.
Meanwhile, Morkel believes that Kuldeep can be deployed at different stages of the match depending on the situation. He has the ability to disrupt the batters’ rhythm even in short spells of one or two overs.
Morkel included Kuldeep alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy as one of India’s key match-winning bowlers. The first T20 in Lucknow will be an opportunity for Kuldeep to inch closer to the 100-wicket mark and play a pivotal role for the team.
