Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah of India is anticipated to play for India A in the third four-day match against New Zealand A, which is set to take place at Lincoln from November 7–10.
He might play alongside Rishabh Pant in that match, but his availability depends on the BCCI medical staff giving him a fitness clearance.
Pant and Bumrah have both been added to India’s squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand, which will take place in Wellington from November 19 to 23 and Christchurch from November 27 to December 1, according to Cricinfo. The two are currently training at the Bengaluru Center of Excellence of the BCCI. Bumrah checked in on Monday, but Pant got to the facility on Friday.
What brings Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah to the Center of Excellence?
Bumrah’s stay at the Center of Excellence is connected to the BCCI’s requirement that all players finish the return-to-play protocol prior to any series. He is scheduled to travel to New Zealand on November 1st after those requirements are fulfilled. India won the gold medal in early October at the Asian Games in Japan, where he made his final competitive appearance.
He was benched by the selectors for both the T20I and ODI portions of New Zealand’s current tour of India in addition to being rested from the home white-ball matches against the West Indies. Meanwhile, Bumrah has been staying in shape in his home city of Ahmedabad.
Pant is in a different situation. During the first week of October, while leading the Rest of India against Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup, he suffered a side strain. Due to that injury, he was unable to play in Delhi’s first Ranji Trophy match as well as the first two four-day games against New Zealand A. Pant hasn’t yet returned to wicketkeeping duties, but he has started light work at the Center of Excellence, including batting drills.

Kumar Kushagra of Jharkhand was chosen to fill the wicketkeeper-batter position after Pant was unable to play in the first two unofficial Test matches against New Zealand A. Kushagra’s duties have grown significantly; last week, he was named as Ishan Kishan’s replacement in the current T20I series after Kishan, the Jharkhand captain, sustained a right adductor strain. The selection panel’s confidence in Kushagra as a dependable backup gloveman at this level is demonstrated by the consecutive call-ups.
