Suresh Raina, a former batter for India, has expressed great faith in the current Indian team and has predicted that India will defeat Pakistan in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
Suresh Raina has backed India to beat Pakistan comprehensively at the 2027 ODI World Cup
The match between the two teams is scheduled for October 10, 2027, at Johannesburg’s Wanderers Stadium. 14 teams will compete in the group stage of the competition, which is co-hosted by Namibia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
In his evaluation, Raina emphasised India’s superiority in all three areas of the game. He suggested that the team’s total talent sets them apart from their rivals at this point, praising the aggressive style and brave batting approach that the current generation of Indian players has embraced.
Raina expressed optimism that India would win a third World Cup in 2027, citing the country’s victories in 1983 and 2011. He acknowledged that South African supporters would also be quite supportive of Pakistan, but he insisted that India has an advantage going into the competition due to their overall calibre.
In every area, the Indian team is currently too far ahead. I don’t think it’s like it’s ever been because of how much players have progressed, how fearlessly they are batting, and how aggressively they play. Although I believe the Indian team is now far superior, India-Pakistan undoubtedly raises fan awareness. Pakistan will have support in South Africa for this World Cup match, but I believe we have a strong team with bowlers who can withstand pressure and have decent pace and bounce.
I believe it’s time to introduce the third in 1983, 2011, and possibly 2027. Our 1.4 billion people in India will send their best wishes and prayers to the team. After the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Schedule Launch, Raina told JioStar, “I think they will win that Pakistan game comfortably.”

A significant portion of Raina’s evaluation was devoted to India’s bowling capabilities. He emphasised the strength of India’s pace attack in particular, citing their capacity to produce strong pace and bounce, which he feels will be crucial in conditions throughout South Africa. According to Raina, these bowlers possess the temperament and ability to manage pressure in a high-stakes competition setting.
His comments support the idea that India has a well-rounded team that can compete at the top level throughout the tournament thanks to their aggressive batting and bowling unit. Although Raina did not specifically name any bowlers, his general assessment of the team’s calibre and depth was evident.
In addition to the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan on October 10, 2027, the tournament’s elimination phase has been confirmed. The final will be held in Johannesburg on November 21, 2027, with the two semifinals slated for November 17 and 18, 2027.
