Cameron Green‘s confirmation of his fitness for the series finale in Cape Town gave Australia a much-needed boost prior to the third Test match against South Africa. After recuperating from an abdominal injury sustained during the final ODI against South Africa on September 30, the all-rounder will make a comeback as a specialist batter. After Australia’s devastating innings-and-31-run loss in the second Test at Gqeberha, which left the three-match series tied 1-1, Green’s availability is crucial.
Cameron Green confirmed his fitness for the series decider in Cape Town
Cameron Green’s abdominal strain prevented him from recovering in time, so he missed the first two Test matches. But he recovered more quickly than expected. Green said he was confident in his ability to compete.
“I’m ready to go. Green was quoted as saying, “I’m pretty surprised at how quickly it’s actually healed or how functional I feel just a few weeks after.”
Cameron Green is unlikely to bowl in the third Test, even though he was seen bowling during Saturday net sessions. Australia’s middle order, which faltered in the previous match at Gqeberha and was dismissed for 99 in the first innings, will be strengthened by his return. Nic Maddinson will probably make room for Green, who will enter the starting lineup with at least one confirmed change for Australia.
Although he feels most at ease at No. 4 or No. 5, the 27-year-old thinks he can adjust to a variety of batting positions. In his reflections on his recent performances, Green emphasized the advantages of Australia’s Test matches against Bangladesh at Mackay and Darwin.
“I think I’ve had a lot of experience up and down the order,” said the all-rounder for the Kolkata Knight Riders. When talking about his strategy for the series final, Green cited his recent domestic cricket experiences. The all-rounder emphasized how his mindset going into Cape Town was shaped by his performances in the Shield cricket and Bangladesh Tests.

“The Tests in Mackay and Darwin were undoubtedly very beneficial to my desire to play the game. The last Shield game I played taught me a lot about how I wanted to play, and it felt pretty natural to me,” Cameron Green remarked.
On October 27, Newlands in Cape Town will host the third and final Test. After losing the second Test, Australia will need to put on a strong batting display to take back control of the series. With Cameron Green back, the team has the stability and adaptability needed to take on South Africa in the championship game.
